We are currently seeking a Lab Specialist-Chemistry to join our team at our World Headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.
Position Description
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
(All other duties as assigned)
Conduct experiments (e.g. DOEs) under the direction of a Research Scientist.
Work with chemicals and formulate new products
Perform physical tests on glass samples and evaluate the results.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of samples being produced and evaluated.
Batch, melt, & form glass samples; section and prepare samples for desired evaluation.
Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
Perform patent and literature searches on identified topics relevant to the research
Understand the results being reported and their importance to the research project.
Present research information/data to technical and management teams
Participate as an active member of the R&D Labs Safety Committee & support the R&D safety culture and programs.
Work with 3rd party suppliers as necessary
SCOPE AND IMPACT:
Lab Specialists in this role will perform a broad range of analytical testing and technical reporting as assigned. This work will directly support the R&D project initiatives related to performing cost effective research and adding new technological capabilities.
Position Requirements
REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree in Materials Science or Chemistry with at least 3 years of industrial experience
Solid fundamental working knowledge of chemistry and chemical reactions
Experience handling, mixing or formulating chemical(s), products, solutions
Experience operating spectroscopic analytical instrumentation, such as FT-IR and GC/MS and interpreting results
Demonstrated computer skills (General PC knowledge, MS Office applications, engineering & scientific tools).
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Basic principles of laboratory safety and emergency procedures.
DESIREABLE:
Experience working with high temperature processes
Physical property measurement experience (density, viscosity, strength)
Experience with sample preparation: grinding, polishing, mixing
Experience with ceramic and/or glass materials testing
Experience operating basic laboratory equipment including microscopes, chemical fume hoods, furnaces, etc.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
This position will administratively report directly to the R&D Labs Manager. All daily research project work will be directed by the R&D project technical leaders.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
